Privacy Policy

Version 1 October 2026

This policy explains which personal data MySeniorMentor processes, why, and what rights you have. We keep it as short and clear as we can.

1. Who is responsible

MySeniorMentor is responsible for processing personal data through the platform.

Email: info@myseniormentor.nl

2. What data we process

Depending on how you use MySeniorMentor:

• Account data: name, email address, login details (including Google sign-in if you choose it) and preferred language.

• Mentor profile: first name, photo, introduction, experience, skills, services, languages, general availability, city and country, and optional portfolio images.

• Location: the place you enter, and for mentors a private address used to calculate approximate distances.

• Contact requests and the messages you send with them, help requests you post, favourites, waitlist alerts, reviews and reports.

• Consent records: when you accepted the Terms and Privacy Policy, which version, and your optional marketing choice.

• Cookie preferences, and — only after you agree — anonymous usage statistics.

• Technical and security data such as error reports and log data needed to keep the platform working safely.

3. Why we use it

• To provide your account and keep you signed in.

• To show mentor profiles and make search and distance results work.

• To let people contact each other, post help requests and leave reviews.

• To review profiles, handle reports and keep the platform safe.

• To meet legal obligations.

• To improve the platform, based on aggregated statistics.

• To send you messages you asked for, such as notifications or — if you opted in — news.

4. Legal bases

• Performance of our agreement with you (the Terms): your account, profile, search, contact, requests and reviews.

• Legitimate interests: moderation, security, preventing misuse and improving the platform. We weigh these against your interests.

• Legal obligations: for example handling legal requests or keeping certain records.

• Consent: optional marketing messages and non-essential cookies/statistics. You can withdraw consent at any time.

5. Public and private information

If you publish an approved mentor profile, the following can be seen by visitors: first name, photo, introduction, experience, skills, services, languages, general availability, city and country, approved portfolio images and approved reviews.

Your email address, telephone number, full private address and account details are not made public automatically. You decide yourself what you share in direct contact.

6. Location

Public profiles only show city and country. A mentor’s private address is visible only to that mentor and our administrators, and is used solely to calculate rounded, approximate distances. Visitors never see the exact address.

7. Service providers

We use technical service providers to host the website and database, store files, send account emails and look up place names. They only process data on our instructions and as far as necessary. If you choose Google sign-in, Google processes your login under its own privacy policy.

8. International processing

We aim to process data within the European Economic Area. Where a service provider processes data outside the EEA, we rely on safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

9. How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Account and profile data are kept while your account exists. Contact requests, reviews and reports are kept as long as needed for the platform and moderation. Consent records and data needed for security or legal obligations may be kept longer where justified. Analytics data is used in aggregated form.

10. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent. Many of these you can do yourself in your account’s privacy settings (download your data, change marketing preferences, request deletion). For anything else, email info@myseniormentor.nl.

11. Complaints

We would like to hear from you first at info@myseniormentor.nl. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a privacy supervisory authority; in the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

12. Deleting your account

When you delete your account, your profile is removed from the platform and your personal data is deleted or anonymised. Some data may be kept for a limited time where necessary for security, handling open reports, or legal obligations.

13. Age

MySeniorMentor is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly process data of children.

14. Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will tell you on the platform and, where needed, ask you to review the new version.
