MySeniorMentor Terms of Use
1. About MySeniorMentor
MySeniorMentor helps people with experience, knowledge, skills and time become discoverable to people seeking help, knowledge, company or practical support. We connect people; we do not organise or provide the activities users agree between themselves. In short: we help you find someone and make contact. What you agree afterwards is up to you. These terms apply when you visit, create an account or use the platform. For questions about these terms, email info@myseniormentor.nl.
2. Our platform service
We provide digital features that let users find and contact each other. Depending on availability, these include creating and viewing profiles, searching by experience, skills and location, saving profiles, posting help requests, expressing interest, making contact, posting reviews, receiving notifications, reporting content or users, and moderation of profiles, requests, reviews and accounts. We may develop or change these features over time.
3. Not a party to agreements between users
We help people find each other and make contact. Any agreement made afterwards is directly between those users; MySeniorMentor is not a party. We do not enter into agreements on users’ behalf, assign work, or act as an employer, client or representative of a mentor or other user.
4. You decide what to arrange
After contact, users decide for themselves whether to agree anything, what activity takes place, where and when, whether there is compensation, its amount and payment method, mutual expectations, whether qualifications or permits are needed and whether insurance is advisable or necessary. MySeniorMentor does not set, advise on or record compensation for activities arranged between users. Users are responsible for making clear arrangements.
5. No payment processing or commission
MySeniorMentor does not process payments between users for their activities, withhold any compensation or receive commission on their arrangements. A possible future paid membership is entirely separate: it would only grant access to platform features, not pay a mentor or for an activity. If introduced, we will explain the price, duration, payment, cancellation and any statutory cooling-off period beforehand. Additional membership terms may apply.
6. Mentors participate as individuals
Mentor profiles are currently only for natural persons acting in their personal capacity. Company and organisation profiles are not supported. Mentors are not our employees, contractors or representatives. We do not assign work, distribute jobs, require responses, decide what activities mentors perform, set fees, schedule appointments or determine how activities are carried out. Mentors choose whether to respond. Relevant professional or life experience may be mentioned on a personal profile, but it may not be used as a company profile or advertisement.
7. Accounts
Some features require an account. You are responsible for accurate and current information, safeguarding your login details, activity through your account and telling us if you suspect unauthorised access. Do not transfer or knowingly share your account. We may verify information, such as an email address; this only means that particular information was checked by our procedure. It does not guarantee identity, skills, reliability or suitability unless explicitly stated otherwise.
8. Age
MySeniorMentor is intended for people aged 18 or over. By creating an account you declare that you are at least 18.
9. Mentor profiles
Mentors are responsible for their profile information. It must be honest, reasonably up to date, about the person behind the profile, not misleading, respect others’ rights and follow our Community Guidelines. We may review profiles before publication. Approval only means we consider a profile publishable here; it does not guarantee skills, experience, education, qualifications, reliability or suitability for any activity. If we actually verify specific information, we may identify it separately, for example “Email address verified”.
10. Help requests
Users can describe the person, experience or help they seek. A request is intended to connect relevant people; it is not work assigned by MySeniorMentor, a booking or a contract. Mentors are never obliged to respond. Users who connect through a request decide for themselves whether to speak further or arrange anything.
11. Contact details and direct contact
Private email addresses, phone numbers and full home addresses must not be posted publicly in profiles, requests or reviews without necessity. This protects privacy and allows initial contact through MySeniorMentor. Once connected, users decide how to communicate further; we do not require subsequent communication through the platform.
12. Reviews and experiences
Reviews help others understand experiences with a mentor. A user may review a mentor only when, according to MySeniorMentor, contact with that mentor was established through the platform. This does not mean we check what users subsequently agreed, whether an activity happened or was paid for, the amount or how it was performed. Reviews must reflect the reviewer’s own experience. Fake reviews, reviewing yourself, multiple reviews of the same experience to influence a score, pressuring someone for a rating and reviewing on another’s behalf are prohibited. Positive and negative experiences are welcome if they follow our rules. We do not remove reviews solely for being negative, but may moderate unlawful, threatening, discriminatory, misleading, irrelevant or rule-breaking reviews. Users can report reviews. “How reviews work” explains eligibility, display, average scores and moderation.
13. Prohibited use
Do not use MySeniorMentor for illegal, misleading, dangerous or harmful purposes. Impersonation, knowingly false information, threats, harassment, discrimination, hate speech, fraud, spam, unauthorised use of others’ accounts or data, malicious software, technical abuse, company advertising through mentor profiles and services excluded by our Community Guidelines are prohibited. We may exclude or limit activities or categories requiring specialist qualifications, permits or particular safety measures.
14. Your responsibility and suitability
Users decide whom to contact and whether to arrange anything. Depending on the activity, it may be wise or necessary to check experience, qualifications, permits and insurance yourself. If in doubt, ask questions and do not make arrangements until comfortable. Our Safety page offers practical tips for contact and meetings.
15. User content
You remain responsible for text, photos, reviews and other content you post and must have the rights to post it. By posting, you give us non-exclusive permission, only as needed to provide the platform and your chosen features, to store, process, display, resize or technically adapt and distribute it within relevant parts of MySeniorMentor. After deletion, data may temporarily remain where technically or legally necessary. See our Privacy Policy for details.
16. Moderation and measures
To keep MySeniorMentor usable and safe, we may review content and act on breaches of these terms, Community Guidelines or applicable law. Depending on the circumstances, we may ask for changes, limit visibility, remove content, decline a profile, temporarily restrict features, suspend or close an account. We consider severity and legal obligations. Where required and possible by law, we explain restrictions or account actions to affected users. Available report features let users flag potentially illegal or rule-breaking content.
17. Availability
We do our best to keep the platform working safely, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted, error-free service. We may maintain, improve, replace or end features for reasonable reasons. We will inform users of significant changes where reasonable or legally required.
18. Our responsibility
MySeniorMentor is responsible for its own platform service under applicable law. We are not a party to direct user agreements and therefore not responsible for users’ performance of them. We do not guarantee a user’s suitability, that users will reach an agreement, that their information is always complete or current, or that a meeting or activity meets expectations. This does not remove liability for our own acts or omissions insofar as mandatory law forbids exclusion or limitation. Nothing here limits your mandatory statutory rights.
19. Privacy
We process personal data when you use MySeniorMentor. Our separate Privacy Policy explains what data we process, why, the legal basis, retention, sharing and your rights. It does not replace these terms.
20. Closing an account
You can close your account using available account settings or by contacting us. Some data may remain after closure where necessary for legal obligations, security, fraud prevention, disputes or other legitimate purposes described in our Privacy Policy.
21. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for reasonable reasons, including new features, platform changes, legal changes, safety or abuse prevention. We inform registered users in advance of important changes where required by law or reasonably necessary. Where new consent or agreement is required, we ask for it. Each version states its applicable date.
22. Community Guidelines and additional rules
Specific features may also be subject to our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Community Guidelines, Safety information and “How reviews work”. If additional rules conflict with these terms, these terms prevail unless expressly and validly agreed otherwise.
23. Complaints and contact
For questions, complaints or reports about MySeniorMentor, email info@myseniormentor.nl. You may also use an available report feature for inappropriate or potentially illegal content. We handle complaints and reports carefully and within a reasonable time.
24. Applicable law
Dutch law applies to these terms and the agreement between a user and MySeniorMentor. This choice does not deprive consumers of protection under mandatory applicable consumer law. Disputes may be submitted to the court competent by law.
25. Finally
MySeniorMentor is built on a simple idea: experience matters and people matter. We help people discover and contact each other. We help you find each other; what you arrange afterwards is up to you.
